Memory processing in dissociation
This project (part of Gwynnevere’s PhD) investigates how the brain works during memory processing in people experiencing dissociation or psychosis to better understand how they are different.
In “Functional Imaging of Reality Monitoring” (FIRM-C), participants take a test of reality monitoring (a type of memory ability) while having an MRI brain-scan.
Three groups of participants take part:
people with clinical levels of dissociation,
people with clinical levels of psychosis, or
with no clinical levels of any mental health difficulty.
We will then compare reality monitoring ability and brain activity across these groups. This will help us learn whether reality monitoring ability Is different between the groups, which could help us understand them better.
